Erik ten Hag ‘Quite Happy’ With Manchester United’s Performance in 3-0 Win Over Charlton Athletic
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said he was ‘quite happy’ with the Red Devils’ performance in their win over Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup quarter-final.
The Old Trafford outfit secured their passage to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic. Manchester United opened their scoring through summer signing Antony, who sent the Red Devils ahead in the 21st minute of the match.
The victory over Charlton Athletic means Erik ten Hag and co. have won all six games they have played so far since club football action resumed after the end of FIFA World Cup 2022.
Speaking after the match, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag revealed he was quite happy with his team’s performance in the win over Charlton Athletic.
“I think Alejandro Garnacho was good at one-on-ones, and then we make a great goal. A brilliant goal, a team goal, but the finishing from Antony dos Santos was great,” Erik ten Hag added.
Erik ten Hag also stressed that reaching the semi-finals is ‘nothing’ and it is only about winning the EFL Cup title.
“[Reaching] the last four is nothing. It’s only about winning. But you have to go from game to game, from leg to leg. We’ll see who’s coming out of the draw and we will prepare well. Now we go to another league, the Premier League, so we leave this game behind and move forward,” Erik ten Hag said.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will host Manchester City in a Premier League fixture in their next game. The Red Devils have the opportunity to close the gap on Manchester City, who sit second in the PL points table, to just one point.
Manchester United currently sits fourth in the points table with 35 points from 17 matches while Manchester City have 39 points from 17 matches.
