Hugo Lloris Sent Message to Harry Kane After FIFA World Cup Penalty Miss
England and France squared off in the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022, and it was the latter who emerged victorious at the end of it. France took the lead through Aurelien Tchouameni before Harry Kane converted a penalty to restore parity.
France again took the lead in the 78th minute of the match, with Olivier Giroud finding the net to send his 2-1 up. England had the chance to equalize when Mason Mount was fouled inside the France box and the referee pointed to the spot after reviewing the incident on the pitch-side monitor.
Harry Kane once again stepped up to take the penalty, but this time he blazed the kick well over the crossbar. France then comfortably saw off the game to seal their place in the semi-final of FIFA World Cup 2022.
Hugo Lloris, who was France’s goalkeeper in their game against England, has revealed he sent a text message to Harry Kane following the Three Lions’ exit from FIFA World Cup 2022.
Hugo Lloris also said Harry Kane can be proud of what he has done for England at FIFA World Cup 2022. The France goalkeeper also said many top players have also missed penalties and that Harry Kane will keep his chin up and continue to shine for England and Tottenham Hotspur.
Hugo Lloris added: “I think he needed some rest, but it was a difficult time for the England national team and for Harry. But I think he can be proud of what he’s done for the national team during this World Cup. I think in football history many top players miss important penalties.
“Players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappe – and I’ve no doubt Harry will keep his chin up and continue to shine for Tottenham and his national team.”
Meanwhile, France will take on Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022 semi-finals. Morocco have set up a clash with France after defeating Portugal 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
