ISL 2022-23 Highlights: Hyderabad FC vs Mumbai City FC

In the first half, the Islanders got off to a great start and came close to taking the lead as early as the fifth minute. Jorge Pereyra pulled Bipin Singh into the penalty area by playing a through pass that was brilliantly placed, but the winger could only attempt to tear the net from outside the area.

After ten minutes, Hyderabad’s first chance at goal came via Chinglensana Singh’s direct header of Joel Chianese’s free kick toward Phurba Lachenpa. This offered Hyderabad the opportunity to score.

In the 23rd minute, Mumbai City FC scored the game’s opening goal, which came about as a result of a counterattack. Chinglensana was able to score an own goal after deflecting a low pass into the box that was delivered by Bipin after the latter had advanced the ball quickly down the left flank.

In the penultimate minute of stoppage time in the first half, Hyderabad FC levelled the score by converting the penalty kick that was handed to them after Lalengmawia Ralte was called for bringing down Bartholomew Ogbeche within the penalty area.

By putting the keeper in the wrong position from the penalty spot, Joao Victor was able to tie the score. The Chinese made a mistake in the middle of the field, which allowed their opponent to play the ball through to Mohammed Yasir five minutes into the second half.

This played a significant role in the outcome of the match. The player gave the ball to the winger, Halicharan Narzary, who is 24 years old, and then made a pinpoint pass to him. Halicharan Narzary easily slid the ball past the goalkeeper.

Soon after, (less than five minutes later), Bipin tried to stop the Islanders from tying the score, but Laxmikant Kattimani made an amazing save. When the clock struck seven minutes past the hour, everything had returned to its usual state.

Ahmed Jahouh, who was subbing in for the original player, provided Greg Stewart with a spectacular through the pass. The Scottish attacker had no trouble scoring his first goal for the Islanders, easily sending the ball past Kattimani to complete the scoring.

A little under ten minutes after that, the Nizams took the lead for the first time since they had lost it. After a corner kick by replacement Borja Herrera, Odei Onaindia made a diving header to send the ball back across the goal, where Victor was waiting to score with a close-range header.

In the 85th minute, a level playing field was once again restored. Bipin changed the trajectory of the ball so that it was headed in Stewart’s direction. After the forward played the ball through to the substitute, Alberto Noguera, who was standing quite near the goal, put the ball in with a side-footed shot. Both teams made one last push for the win in the dying seconds of the game, but in the end, they had to settle for a point each.

The next game for Hyderabad will be against NorthEast United on Thursday, October 13. On Saturday, October 15, the Islanders will play Odisha FC in Mumbai after making a brief trip back there earlier in the week.
