Jamie Carragher Gives His Opinion After Liverpool Loss
Leeds United took the lead in the third minute of the match through Spanish forward Rodrigo after a miscommunication between Alisson and Joe Gomez. Liverpool however came back into the game when Mohamed Salah scored the equaliser in the fourteenth minute.
The first half ended with a 1-1 scoreline. After the break, Liverpool put huge pressure on Leeds’s defense. But Leeds custodian Illan Meslier produced a masterclass to stop every attack. Leeds regained their lead in the 89th minute when Crysencio Summerville found the back of the net. The match ended in an agonizing 2-1 loss for Liverpool.
Anfield brings close After Leeds United’s shocking victory against Liverpool, Sky Sports Pundit Jamie Carragher termed this win as a huge result for the Whites.
“Leeds’ fans know how big a result this is. It’s so long since anyone’s won at Anfield. They’re going to milk it and rightly so. It will do wonders for them, in terms of the league table. This isn’t a blip for Liverpool, this is a serious problem,” told Carragher in the Sunday night football.
Throughout the season, Liverpool have been hot and cold. they have defeated teams like Manchester City and then suffered losses against Nottingham Forest. Klopp has tried many formations but nothing has given him success for a continuous period. The German will be once again back to the drawing board, thinking about what changes he will have to do.
Speaking about the same, Carragher said, “Klopp must be thinking, what else can I try now? Different permutations, formations, personnel”
The biggest issue for Liverpool this season has been multiple injuries to their key players. This forced Klopp to do many changes to his lineup. As a result, Klopp has struggled to have a set eleven.
After this loss, Liverpool will stay in ninth place. The Reds now have only sixteen points from twelve matches and the top four is looking like a distant dream for them.
The Reds will now face Napoli in their next match.
