Joan Laporta Heaps Praise on Xavi as Barcelona Establish 8-Point Lead in La Liga
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has lavished praise on club manager Xavi for their impressive run of form in La Liga in the current campaign.
Barcelona have played 20 matches so far in the La Liga 22/23 campaign and have earned 53 points from those fixtures. The Catalan outfit have won 17 of those matches, shared points in two games and suffered defeat in only one match.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have 45 points from 20 matches, with 14 wins, three draws and three defeats in the ongoing league campaign.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has credited Xavi for the form the club finds themselves in. Joan Laporta said that Xavi became the Barcelona manager at a time of major adversity for the club and that he has now created a sensational chemistry in the team.
“Xavi has done an excellent job. He arrived at Barcelona at a time of major adversity, and now he has managed to create sensational chemistry in the team.”
Xavi, who Barcelona appointed as their manager in November 2021, won his first trophy as the manager of the Catalan outfit in January 2023. Barcelona lifted the Spanish Super Cup title after defeating Real Madrid 3-1 in the final. Xavi will be now be aiming to guide Barcelona to La Liga glory.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will face Villarreal in their next match in La Liga. The match between Barcelona and Villarreal kicks-off at 1:30am Indian Standard Time on February 13.
The Spanish heavyweights will then square off with Manchester United in the first-leg of the Europa League round-of-16 play-off. That match between Barcelona and Manchester United kicks-off at 11:15pm Indian Standard Time on February 16.
