Jorge Mendes offers Ruben Neves to Barcelona
Football agent Jorge Mendes has offered his client Ruben Neves to Barcelona. The Portugal international is currently among the most talented defensive midfielders in Europe.
He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from FC Porto during the summer transfer window of 2021. The 25-year-old midfielder has played 238 games (in all competitions) for the West Midlands outfit thus far, registering 29 goals and 12 assists. Ruven Neves is known for his work rate, passing skills, and ability to score from a distance.
The former Spain international is in the final year of his contract at Camp Nou. He is likely to leave the Blaugrana on a Bosman deal at the end of the current season.
Meanwhile, Neves’ contract at the Molineux Stadium will expire in 2024. Wolves could look to sell him in the next window if they fail to agree to a new contract with him.
Apart from Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown interest in signing the Portugal international in recent months. Wolverhampton Wanderers are likely to demand a hefty transfer fee for selling him.
Barcelona president Laporta also admitted Neves is a very good player. He said: “Neves is a great player, but this matter is part of private conversations.”
Enner Valencia agent Gonzalo Vargas has revealed that Barcelona made an enquiry to sign the Ecuador international during the January window. While speaking to the media, he said: “There was an inquiry from FC Barcelona for Enner Valencia that did not prosper, but just being on the Catalan team’s radar has been a source of pride for his family.”
Enner Valencia has been in great form for Fenerbahce this season. He has scored 20 goals in 18 league games so far. The Ecuador international also impressed with his performances at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Valencia found the back of the net three outings in three appearances in Qatar.
Barcelona are currently at the top of the La Liga table, with 53 points from 20 games. They will next lock horns against Villareal in the league before facing Manchester United in the Europa League on February 16.
