Juventus Kept an Eye on Real Madrid Prospect Rafa Marin
Rafa Marin started his football journey in the academy of Alcolea. The defender spent four years in Alcolea before moving to another academy named Centro Historico in 2013.
After one season, Marin joined la Liga club Sevilla’s academy. He trained for two seasons in Sevilla before ultimately joining the youth setup of Real Madrid. In Madrid, Marin gradually continued his development.
Finally, in 2021 he was promoted to the reserve team and the defender now is a regular member of Real Madrid Castilla. He got his debut first-team call-up last year but is yet to have a single appearance. Nevertheless, he has represented Spain at the junior level and is regarded as one of the best upcoming prospects from the Madrid academy.
After a decade of dominance in Serie-A, Juventus failed to reach the top three in their last two terms. The Binaconeri have got a poor start to their current season. They have won four out of the first ten matches so far. With sixteen points the Binaconeri are currently struggling at the tenth position.
Their record in Europe is even worse. Massimiliano Allegri’s team has lost three out of their first four matches. This also includes a humiliating 2-0 loss against Israeli team Maccabi Haifa.
Now Juventus management understands this situation perfectly well. They know that the team has new faces. Hence they are looking at many young players who can join the club.
Juventus lost Matthijs de Ligt in the last summer transfer window. Now the 20-year-old Spanish centre-back Rafa Marin is one of the best players at Real Madrid Castilla. He has huge potential and so Juventus tried to sign the defender as a replacement for de Ligt.
Madrid however was not at all interested to sell their product. hence the transfer did not happen. Juventus then signed Gleison Bremer as the replacement for the Dutch defender. However, they still hold an interest in the Spaniard.
Marin has a €30 million release clause to his contract and it looks like if Juventus want to sign him, they will have to pay this amount to the Los Blancos.
Apart from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain are also very much interested in the Real Madrid Castilla player. And the Parisiens can actually look to pay his release at the end of this season.
