Kalidou Koulibaly Claims Chelsea Can Win Premier League Title This Season
Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has claimed that the Blues can win the Premier League title this season.
The Stamford Bridge outfit signed Koulibaly in the summer transfer window, landing the 31-year-from Serie A side Napoli. Koulibaly has signed a four-year contract with Chelsea with an option to extend it by another 12 months.
Koulibaly has featured in 11 games for Chelsea so far this season. The centre-back has made eight appearances for the Blues in the Premier League. Koulibaly has also appeared in three matches.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have not had the best of runs in the Premier League so far this season, and they sit sixth in the points table.
Defending Premier League champions Manchester City are second with 29 points from 12 matches. Tottenham Hotspur sits third with 26 points from 13 matches. Newcastle United complete the top four with 24 points from 13 matches.
Chelsea languishes at sixth in the points table and are 10 points short of table-toppers Arsenal. The Blues have 21 points from 12 matches. In the top-four race, they are four points behind Newcastle United, but Graham Potter’s men have a game in hand.
Chelsea, meanwhile, suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday. The Blues took Brighton & Hove Albion on and slumped to a 4-1 defeat to the Seagulls.
In a disastrous first half, Chelsea conceded three goals. The west London outfit found themselves trailing by a goal just five minutes into the match. Brighton then doubled their lead in the 14th minute, courtesy of a Ruben Loftus-Cheek own goal.
Chelsea then conceded another own goal in the 42nd minute to go 3-0 down. Kai Havertz pulled one back in the 48th minute but Brighton sealed their deserving win with a goal in the 90+2nd minute.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s next fixture in the Premier League is against London rivals and table-toppers Arsenal. The Blues will have the opportunity to reduce the gap on Arsenal when the two sides clash.
