Liverpool News: Liverpool Received a Big Boost Amidst the Everton Draw
Earlier Jota suffered a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s pre season tour which kept him sidelined for the first part of the season.
The Portugal International made his appearance of the season against their arch rivals Everton when he came from the bench at the 80th minute.
His return was not as fruitful as the forward would have liked. Jota missed a golden opportunity to give his side all three points in a hard fought battle against their rivals. But still, his return will only make Jurgen Klopp happy.
Last year’s Premier League runners up Liverpool received a great boost as their forward Diego Jota has made his comeback after a hamstring injury.
Rising from the academy of Pacos de Ferreira, Jota was promoted to the senior squad. After having a good spell with the senior team, he was signed by La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
However, he soon returned to Portugal on loan and joined his hometown club, Porto. Jota spent one year at the club and then joined EFL Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Upon signing for the Wolves, Jota cemented his spot in the starting eleven and played a pivotal role in their promotion. The forward scored 17 goals in his debut season in England.
Jota made his English Premier League debut next season and permanently moved to Wolves. He spent two more seasons with the club before a move to Liverpool occurred.
In the summer of 2020, Liverpool spent £45 million for the services of the Portuguese forward which raised many eyebrows. However, Jota soon showed his worth and finished the season with 13 goals in 30 appearances.
Next season he continued his great form and started brilliantly. The winger pumped in 10 goals in the EPL before the start of the year and was getting regarded as one of the best in the league.
Meanwhile, at the turn of the year, Sadio Mane suddenly found his form back and started to perform like a world beater. On top of that, Liverpool signed an inform Luis Diaz from Porto. These two incidents suddenly made Jota’s minutes a lot less. The Portuguese international could add only five goals to his tally.
Liverpool did not have a good start to their season. The Reds have managed to get only two victories out of their first six matches. They lost Sadio Mane to Bayern. New replacement Darwin Nunez is yet to find his feat. While their talisman Salah is not performing consistently.
Liverpool is also struggling with injury issues. In such a situation, the Reds will have to play four matches within eleven days. So getting Jota back after his injury can give Klopp something more to work with.
