Manchester City News: Haaland Stars as Manchester City Thrashed Nottingham Forest

Haaland has just landed in the Premier League this season, but his nine goals in five matches have already put other clubs in fear. His six goals have just come from the last two games against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

The City started with an offensive 4-3-3 formation, whereas Nottingham has made no change to their defensive 5-3-2 formation from previous games.

The first goal from the Wednesday match came just 12 minutes after the kick-off. The game was already decided before the end of the first half with the Norwegian’s brilliant hat trick in the Ethiad Stadium.

Haaland opened the scoring from Foden’s cross in the 12th minute. City’s second goal also came from unmarked Haaland’s tap-in after a pass from Foden in the 23rd minute. The third goal was a header from Haaland from Cancelo’s cross as Guardiola’s men went 3-0 up in the 38th minute of the match.

After coming to the Premier League, Haaland has already broken a record of scoring 9 goals in such a short space of time. This record was previously held by Mick Quinn and City legend Sergio Aguero with eight goals each.

Man City has spent a good amount of money on transfers this summer. But City fans became worried when their club decided to sell Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling. But City has already replaced them with two excellent signings; Haaland and Alvarez.

After the brilliant display in the Palace game, Guardiola praised Haaland by saying “he has an incredible sense of goal.” He added more by praising the Norwegian striker’s goal-scoring feat at his previous club Salzburg, and Dortmund. Haaland is currently the top goal scorer in the Premier League chart. His goals may exceed 30 before the end of the season.

During the post-match interview of the City vs. Forest game, Guardiola was asked about the brilliant performance of Haaland and Alvarez. The Spanish manager simply replied that he was “happy” for both of them. About Haaland, he described him as a “special talent” and praised his finishing.

After facing a humiliating defeat against Champions, Steve Cooper’s Nottingham side will face Bournemouth on 3rd September.

Champions City will play against Villa at Villa Park on the same day. All eyes will be on Erling Haaland, as he is the most dangerous striker in the Premier League right now.
