Manchester United news: Antony has refused to commit his future to Ajax amid interest from the Red Devils.
Man Utd have had bids rejected for Antony as Ajax remains firm on their valuation of the highly-rated player. The Red Devils, though, have not yet given up on their pursuit of Antony, with club manager Erik ten Hag keen to reunite with the 22-year-old.
Man Utd have now received encouragement in their pursuit of the Brazilian international as he refused to rule out an exit from Ajax this summer.
Antony said he wants to come to the right decision with his family, business partners and Ajax. He also refused to commit his future to the Dutch club.
“No, to be perfectly honest, I can’t. Now I am focusing on playing football and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents and my brother. They will advise me on what is best,” Antony answered when asked if he plans to commit his future to Ajax.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are scrambling to make more signings before the transfer window closes. The Red Devils have so far made three signings: Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
Man Utd have also reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. He will become the club’s fourth signing of the summer. The 30-year-old will reportedly sign a four-year contract with an option for another year.
Man Utd will be hoping to make more signings after a disastrous start to their new season. The Old Trafford outfit hosted Brighton & Hove Albion in their first game of the Premier League 22/23 season and lost the match 2-1.
Man Utd then faced Brentford in their second match of the season, and the Bees thrashed the Red Devils 4-0. They now have zero points from their first two matches.
Man Utd host Liverpool at Old Trafford in their next game as they aim to earn their first points of the new Premier League season.
