Manchester United Signed Wout Weghorst From Burnley on a Loan

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign striker Wout Weghorst from Burnley. The Dutch striker will be a Red Devils player for the rest of the season.

Wout Weghorst joined Burnley from VfL Wolfsburg during the January transfer window of 2022. However, he struggled to make his mark at Turf Moor. The Dutch international has scored just two goals in 20 Premier League games.

He moved to Besiktas on a season-long loan deal at the start of the current season. Wout Weghorst revived his career since moving to the Turkish Super Lig. The 30-year-old striker has scored eight goals in 16 league appearances for the Eagles.

Wout Weghorst will fly to Manchester today to undergo medical tests and sign his contract. The Turkish club are looking to sign Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar to replace Weghorst at the club.

Wout Weghorst’s former coach Steve Stone has warned Manchester United about Wout Weghorst’s weakness. Speaking to the media, he said: “Technically, he is actually very, very good for someone who is 6ft 6in.”

“What I would say, is he wasn’t quick in behind. So when you are trying to spin balls down the channel, it wasn’t his strength, but on the other hand, he does bring other players into play and that’s why he might be looked at for Manchester United.”

Manchester United are currently fourth in the Premier League table, nine points behind leaders Arsenal. They will next lock horns against city rivals Manchester City in a league game at Old Trafford on January 14. Wout Weghorst is unlikely to complete his transfer on time to feature in the game.
