Manchester United Will Not Loan Out Harry Maguire in January Transfer Window
Manchester United does not have any intentions to loan out club captain Harry Maguire in the January transfer window, according to a report in 90min.
Harry Maguire has started in just one of the four games the Red Devils have so far played in the Premier League after the resumption of club football action after the end of FIFA World Cup 2022. Erik ten Hag opted for a centre-back partnership between Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw in three of those four games.
Harry Maguire was previously linked with a move to Aston Villa, though such suggestions were immediately dismissed. He has also been linked with West Ham, but if the latest report is to be believed, Manchester United will not loan out Maguire in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old centre-back, meanwhile, has featured in 15 games across all competitions for Manchester United so far in the 22/23 season. But only seven of those have been as a starter.
In the Premier League, he has so far appeared in eight games for the Red Devils in the current campaign. Four of those were as a starter, with the other four appearances off the bench.
Harry Maguire has been playing for Manchester United since the Old Trafford outfit signed the English defender from Leicester City in the summer of 2019. Man Utd spent £80m to sign Maguire, making him the most expensive defender in the world.
Since joining Manchester United, Maguire has featured in 159 games for the Red Devils across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Maguire’s current contract with Manchester United runs until 2025. That means he has more than two years left on his current deal with the Premier League side. Manchester United also have the option to extend his contract by another 12 months.
