Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the England national football team squad for the March international break after picking up a knock during Red Devils’ win over Fulham in FA Cup.
Marcus Rashford was named in the England squad for their upcoming UEFA EURO Qualifiers matches against Italy and Ukraine. However, England will be without Rashford, who has been in sensational form for Manchester United, in those matches.
“Marcus Rashford has been forced to withdraw from the England squad,” the statement read. “The Manchester United forward sustained a knock during the 3-1 victory over Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“Our no.10 required treatment after being hurt in the build-up to Aleksandar Mitrovic’s opener for the visitors and was later withdrawn in the 83rd minute, with Fred taking his place.”
Marcus Rashford, who endured a rather underwhelming 21/22 season, has been impressive for Manchester United in the current campaign. The English attacker has appeared in 44 games across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season.
Marcus Rashford has racked up an impressive tally of 27 goals and nine assists for Manchester United so far this season. His most recent goal came in Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat of Real Betis in the Europa League round of 16 second leg. Rashford scored an absolute stunner of a goal as Manchester United sealed their place in the Europa League quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is not the only England player to have withdrawn from the squad for their matches during the March international break. Nick Pope and Mason Mount have also already withdrawn from the England squad for the matches against Italy and Ukraine due to injury.
England will take on Italy in a match that kicks off at 1:15 am Indian Standard Time on March 24. The game against Ukraine will kick off at 9:30 pm Indian Standard Time on March 26.
