Nottingham Forest closing in on £16m Liverpool man

Nottingham Forest are closing in on their fifth deal of the summer as they are closing in on an agreement with Liverpool over Welsh defender Neco Williams.

The newly-promoted Premier League side have already added plenty of talent to their squad, with Taiyo Awoniyi, Guilian Biancone and Moussa Niakhate having arrived on permanent deals, while Dean Henderson has also made the move to the midlands on a loan basis.

Now, they are set to add Liverpool man Williams to their ranks ahead of the new season, as they look to survive their first season in the top flight since the turn of the milennium.

Meanwhile, while Fulham were also keen on signing the player, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Craven Cottage, on a permenant basis, ‘Forest are moving ruthlessly to conclude a deal’ and ‘Personal terms are not expected to be an issue’.

While Forest explored keeping him beyond the summer, ultimately the interest of a side playing in the Champions League next campaign was too much to turn down for the Middlesbrough defender, forcing Forest to turn their attentions to Williams instead.
