Paris Saint-Germain Transfer News: PSG Agrees to Deal Sign Renato Sanches
After struggling during his spells with Bayern Munich and Swansea City respectively, Sanches has revived his career since joining Lille in 2019. The midfielder has played 67 league games for the Ligue 1 outfit so far, scoring six goals.
He helped the Hauts-de-France outfit win the 2020-21’s Ligue 1 title, along with the Trophee des Champions last year.
His performances at the Stade Pierre Mauroy didn’t go unnoticed and he was included in Portugal’s Euro 2020 squad by Fernando Santos. He was among A Seleção’s top performers during the tournament.
Several clubs were interested in signing the Portugal international in this transfer window. Apart from PSG, AC Milan and Arsenal have also contacted the French club for Sanches in recent weeks.
PSG have enjoyed a decent summer transfer window under Christophe Galtier. If the Sanches deal goes according to plan, he will become the Parisians’ fourth signing of the window after Vitinha, Nordi Mukiele and Hugo Ekitike.
Meanwhile, the Paris outfit is also working on several outgoings with Gini Wijnaldum, Mauro Icardi and Idrissa Gueye have all been linked with a move away from Parc des Princess recently.
Sanches is a tenacious footballer who plays his best football when deployed as a central midfielder. His key traits are his passing, tackling, and dribbling skills, along with his ability to play defense-splitting through balls.
The Dutch international has struggled at Parc des Princes since joining from Liverpool last summer. He played 31 league games last term, registering just one goal and three assists. Wijnaldum will look to revive his career under Jose Mourinho next season.
