Raphinha Lavishes Praise on One of the Best Defensive Midfielders, Casemiro
Barcelona attacker Raphinha has named his compatriot and Manchester United midfielder Casemiro as a player he would like to have on his team.
The two aforementioned Brazil internationals are set to be on opposite sides when Manchester United and Barcelona square off in the first leg of the Europa League knock-out round play-off.
Raphinha named Casemiro as a player he would particularly like to have on his team. The Barcelona attacker also described the Manchester United player as one of the best defensive midfielder in the world.
“In addition to the experience he has in football and all the things he has achieved in football, he’s a great leader, he’s a great person, and he manages to complete a team with the quality he has. For me, he’s one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United could only manage to finish second in Europa League 22/23 Group E, behind Real Sociedad. The second-place finish meant the Red Devils would need to defeat a Champions League drop-out in the Europa League knock-out play-off for a place in the round-of-16.
Barcelona, meanwhile, got eliminated from Champions League at the group stage after finishing third in Group C. However, the third-place finish earned them a spot in the Europa League knock-out round play-off, where they were drawn against Manchester United.
The first leg of the knock-out round play-off between Man Utd and Barcelona kicks off at 11:15 pm Indian Standard Time on February 16. Barcelona host the fixture at Camp Nou. The return leg will take place at 1:30 am IST on February 24 at Old Trafford.
