Roberto Firmino: Jurgen Klopp Wants to Keep Brazil Star at Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to keep Roberto Firmino at the Merseyside outfit beyond the end of the 22/23 season.
Speaking to Sky Germany earlier this month, Roberto Firmino’s agent revealed they were having good talks with Liverpool.
“But Roberto also has to have a say in order to reach an agreement with Liverpool. We’re on the right track. We’re having really good talks with Liverpool. They’re a superbly positioned club.”
Roberto Firmino has been one of Liverpool’s best-performing players in what has been a tumultuous 22/23 campaign so far for the Reds. He has featured in 21 games across all competitions for Liverpool so far this season and has racked up nine goals and four assists.
Seven of those goals and three of those assists have come in the Premier League, where he has made 13 appearances this season. However, the Brazilian attacker has not featured for Liverpool since picking up an injury during the Reds’ mid-season training camp in Dubai. His last appearance for Liverpool came in November last year.
Meanwhile, Liverpool languishes at 10th in the Premier League points table with 29 points from 20 matches. They have only won one of their last five matches in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp and co. are now 21 points behind table-toppers Arsenal, who have 50 points from 20 matches. In the race for the top four, Liverpool trail fourth-placed Newcastle United, who have 40 points from 21 matches, by 11 points. Liverpool have also been already knocked out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways when they face Everton in their next match. They head into that fixture on the back of their 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the FA Cup and 3-0 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League.
