Rodrygo Explains Hitting ‘SIU’ Celebration in Real Madrid’s Defeat of Chelsea

Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo hit Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siu’ celebration after scoring for the Spanish behemoths in their 2-0 defeat of Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Chelsea hosted Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final, and a brace from Rodrygo saw Los Blancos win the game by two goals.

Speaking after the match, Rodrygo explained why he chose to imitate Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal celebration.

Rodrygo would go on to score his and Real Madrid’s second goal of the match in the 80th minute.

Real Madrid, who are the defending Champions League winners, will now take on the winners of Manchester City vs Bayern Munich tie in the semi-final of the competition.

Manchester City defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 in the Champions League quarter-final first leg and they remain the favourites to progress from the tie. The second leg between Manchester City and Bayern Munich will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Times on April 20.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will now turn their attention to La Liga, where they sit second in the points table. They will face Celta Vigo in the Spanish top flight in their next game.

Real Madrid are the defending La Liga champions but they trail table-toppers Barcelona by 11 points. They have 62 points from 29 matches in La Liga so far this season. Barcelona, meanwhile, have 73 points from 29 matches.

Unless Barcelona bottle the 11-point lead, Real Madrid will not be able to retain the La Liga title. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have also qualified for the final of Copa del Rey, where they will square off with Osasuna for the title.
