Xavi Lavishes Praise on Gavi After Spanish Super Cup Heroics
FC Barcelona manager Xavi has lavished praise on Gavi after the Spanish midfielder starred for the Catalan outfit in their defeat of Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
It was Gavi who was the man of the match as the Spanish youngster scored a goal and provided two assists for Barcelona. Gavi opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 33rd minute of the match and then assisted Robert Lewandowski’s goal in the 45th minute.
Pedri made it 3-0 in the 69th minute of the Spanish Super Cup final, and Gavi was once again involved, assisting the goal. Real Madrid scored a consolatory goal in the 90+3rd minute through Karim Benzema.
Speaking after the match, Barcelona manager Xavi heaped praise on Gavi, who he said he never gets tired of praising.
Xavi added: “He was gifted with leadership skills. He projects that courage and that rage when he plays football and it’s something special to see. I already said this many times but I never get tired of praising him. Hopefully, he will never stop like this, because he has no limits.”
Meanwhile, Xavi has finally won his first title as the manager of FC Barcelona. Barcelona appointed Xavi, who is also their club legend, as their manager in November 2021.
Xavi will also be aiming to guide the Catalan outfit to La Liga glory in the 22/23 season. Barcelona are atop the points table in La Liga, ahead of El Clasico rivals Real Madrid.
