Xavi Provides Exciting Lionel Messi Barcelona Return Update
Lionel Messi Barcelona return: FC Barcelona manager Xavi has provided an exciting update on Messi, leaving the door open for a potential return to the club for the Argentine icon.
Lionel Messi currently plies his trade for Paris Saint-Germain, who he has been playing for since leaving Barcelona in the summer of 2021 after his contract with the Spanish side had expired.
However, the Argentine superstar has entered the final six months of his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain. He is due to be out of contract at the end of June 2023.
Providing an update on his former teammate and ‘friend’, Xavi said the doors of Barcelona are always open to Lionel Messi for a return to the Catalan outfit.
“It will depend on him, on what he wants to do in his future. This is his home, there is no doubt. The best footballer in history would always fit in,” Xavi added, leaving the doors open for a Barcelona return for Lionel Messi.
Meanwhile, Messi has been impressive for Paris Saint-Germain in the ongoing 22/23 season. The Argentine icon has racked up 16 goals and 14 assists for the French heavyweights in 27 matches across all competitions this season.
It remains to be seen what decision Messi will take with regards to his future. Meanwhile, the Argentine reunited with his former teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in Barcelona earlier this week for a dinner. Messi flew to Barcelona after being given a day off after PSG’s 4-3 win over LOSC Lille in which he netted the winner.
