Chelsea news: The Blues working to sign Marc Cucurella
The Spain international established himself among the best left-backs in the Premier League following an impressive debut season at the Amex Stadium. He played 35 league games last term, registering one goal, one assist and eight clean sheets.
The Premier League champions are also working to bring the 24-year-old defender to the Etihad Stadium.
The London outfit are willing to pay a transfer fee of close to £50 million to sign Cucerella. They are also exploring the possibility of offering young centre-back Levi Colwill in a cash-plus-player. The Blues will discuss personal terms with the Spain international in the coming hours.
Manchester City made a £40 million bid for Cucurella last month, which was rejected by the Seaglues. Romano’s report also adds that the Cityzens have no intention of increasing their offer.
Thomas Tuchel is working to rebuild his back line this transfer window after losing Cesar Azipilicueta and Antonio Rudiger. Kalidou Koulibaly arrived at Stamford Bridge last month, with RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol also linked heavily with a move to the Blues.
The Spain international is an overlapping full-back who is comfortable playing anywhere across the left channel. His key strengths are his tackling and passing skills, along with his concentration.
“It’s good that they talk about me, this means that I’ve done things well and it motivates me to continue working. Yes, I have received news and I like to read it, even if it is only out of curiosity. Many times they are just rumours that do not end in anything. We’ll see what happens.”
