Tottenham Hotspur Gets Boost in Pursuit of Trevoh Chalobah, as AC Milan Is Out of the Race
The former England U-21 international made his breakthrough under Thomas Tuchel last season.
But he has been isolated from the starting XI since April after some new arrivals in the defensive department.
After the sacking of Tuchel, Chalobah may hope for more regular game time under the new manager Graham Potter. The former Brighton boss is famous for developing young players by giving them proper game time.
But the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana this summer may force changing decisions from both sides. These two high-profile names will surely receive more first-team action than him.
Fofana’s recent injury against AC Milan can turn the situation in Chalobah’s favour. As Koulibaly struggles with his form, the Englishman can become a ray of hope for Chelsea’s defence.
During the summer, Chalobah linked to a move to Inter to reunite with his former teammate Lukaku. But that move did not materialise over the terms of the transfer.
Both Eric Dier and Cristian Romero are the best player in Spurs’ defence, but Ben Davies Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are not that good under Conte.
However, if Spurs are going to make a move for him, his experience of playing English football is a plus for the North London club and his best years are still remaining as he is 23 years old.
Tottenham Hotspur is in dire need of a central defender to add more options for injury woes. Clement Lenglet has arrived on a loan deal from Barcelona, but Conte has doubts about the Frenchman’s abilities.
Chalobah is an underrated defender, as Koulibaly was impressed with the Englishman’s performance against Milan. About ended up staying at the club, the 23 years old spoke: “I am at Chelsea, this is my club”.
He also added about giving everything every chance he gets. He loves being at a big club like Chelsea and is excited about the next game.
Chelsea will meet the struggling Wolves today, and Chelsea’s youth product may feature, as Fofana is out with an injury.
