Paul Scholes Lavishes Praise on Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has heaped praise on Cristiano Ronaldo, hailing the Portuguese as a ‘sensational footballler’.

Ronaldo and Scholes were teammates at Man Utd during the six seasons the former spent at the Old Trafford-outfit in his first stint at the club.

It was at Man Utd where he emerged as one of the best footballers in the world. Ronaldo featured in 292 games for the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009 and scored 118 goals for the English side before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009.

Ronaldo is now back at Man Utd after he sealed a sensational return to the Premier League club in the summer of 2021. He left Juventus to re-sign for Manchester United.

Ronaldo recently reached another milestone in his illustrious and trophy-laden club career. The Portuguese netted the winner for Man Utd against Everton in their previous game in the league, and it was the 700th goal of his club career.

The former England international also lavished praise on Ronaldo, stating that the 37-year-old is still going strong by the look of his performance against Everton.

He added: “I never thought he could go on to score 700 goals. I never saw that as a young player but what he did with Real Madrid in Spain, he is a sensational footballer. He’s still going strong by the looks of Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the 22/23 season with Man Utd. The Portugal international has featured in 11 games for the Red Devils but has only scored two goals so far this season.

He is also no longer a permanent fixture in the Man Utd starting XI, having made just one start in the Premier League this season.
