Two Senior Tottenham Hotspur Players Faced Criticism From the Former Spurs Player Jamie O’Hara

Cristian Romero missed out on the game against Newcastle due to injury. As a result, Sanchez made it into the starting XI and suffered a 2-1 loss on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sanchez broke the club record when he came from Ajax for £42 million in 2017. He has appeared 8 times in the Premier League this season.

After arriving at Spurs last season, Antonio Conte made it clear that he sees the Colombian as a backup option. The defender has only played 12 minutes of Champions League football so far.

While discussing Tottenham’s latest defeat ahead of the crucial Champions League game against Sporting, O’Hara criticised Sanchez and his performance.

He spoke: “Romero gets injured, then you have to play Sanchez, I don’t know what Sanchez is playing at. For me, how we paid £45 million (fee reported at £42 million) for him, I will never know.”

Talking about the Colombian’s game, O’Hara added: “He’s just an accident waiting to happen. I don’t know what he puts in his boot bag, but they aren’t football boots because he is playing with wellies on. Honestly, it’s ridiculous how bang average he is.”

Sanchez came to North London under Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure. Though he was successful at that time, he had a significant number of error-prone performances on the pitch.

Even under defensive-minded coaches like Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo, his mistakes started to cause trouble in the score sheet. Finally, Conte has decided to bench him for not getting better with his performances.

Sanchez did not feature in the game against Sporting which ended in a 1-1 draw at their home stadium. But they retained their position as the group leader.

After the game, Jamie O’Hara again criticised another Tottenham senior player. This time, it was club captain Hugo Lloris for not doing better when Edwards scored the early goal.

O’Hara’s criticism of Lloris was fully unjustified. He was brilliant against two spectacular shots from Nazinho. Without Lloris, the scoreline would be different in the aftermath of the game.

There are not many years left in Lloris’s contract and reports suggest that the Spurs are looking for his long-term successor. But throughout his Premier League years, he has been one of the stand-out performers at the club.
