Jurgen Klopp Provides an Update on Liverpool’s Midfield Plans in the Summer
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Reds will look to sign a new midfielder in the summer. The German manager has struggled with his midfield options this term.
Almost all of the Reds’ senior midfielders have had bad luck injuries this season. According to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside outfit are expected to sign 2-3 new midfielders during the off-season.
While speaking to the media recently, Jurgen Klopp revealed that Liverpool are tracking several midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. He said: “There’s maybe 12 midfielders we are interested in on the market… so that’s good. We will sign some, I hope.”
He has already revealed his decision to leave the club at the end of the current season. The 31-year-old attacker has played a key role for the Reds since joining from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the summer window of 2015.
Roberto Firmino has played 359 games for Liverpool thus far, registering 109 goals and 79 assists. He won the PFA Premier League Player of the Month award in January 2016 and was part of the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season
Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan have also shown interest in signing the Brazil international in recent months. It will take a lot of persuasion from Jose Mourinho to bring him to Rome next summer.
