Diogo Dalot Says Manchester United Showed Character and Personality in 2-0 Win Over Nottingham Forest
Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot said they showed character and personality in their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
The Red Devils produced a sensational display against Nottingham Forest and brushed them aside to earn all three points from the fixture.
The victory moved Manchester United back to third in the Premier League points table, ahead of fourth-placed Newcastle United. The Old Trafford-outfit now have 59 points from 30 games while Newcastle United have 56 points.
Manchester United were without a number of key players against Nottingham Forest. Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were among those who missed the game due to injury. Marcel Sabitzer – initially named in the XI to face Nottingham Forest – also suffered an injury in the warm-up and was replaced by Christian Eriksen.
Speaking after the game, Diogo Dalot, who Erik ten Hag deployed as a left-back against Nottingham Forest, said Manchester United showed character and personality in their win.
“I think we have shown this season that we are getting towards what we want, we are going in the right direction. But I think this has to be a little bit more consistent and we want to keep that mentality and especially that personality for the upcoming games.”
Diogo Dalot was impressive for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest and it was he who scored their second goal of the match. Antony, who scored the opening goal, assisted Dalot’s goal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will now turn their attention to the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Sevilla. The tie remains in the balance after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
Manchester United threw away a two-goal lead in the first leg as a late capitulation saw Sevilla claw their way back into the game. The second leg between Manchester United and Sevilla will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on April 21.
