Andres Iniesta Hints at the Barcelona Comeback of Lionel Messi

Rising from the academy of La Masia, Lionel Messi spent most part of his career at the La Liga club, Barcelona.

Messi established himself as one of the best players ever to play the game of football while donning the Blaugrana shirt. He won everything possible for the Catalan giants and took them to the pinnacle of football. So it was often thought that the Argentine will only retire in Barcelona shirt.

However, things turned out differently. Despite Barcelona’s great success on the field, the Catalan giants were hugely mismanaged. This resulted in a big economic turmoil. As a result, the Blaugrana failed to register the contract of Lionel Messi.

After his exit from Barcelona, Messi joined Ligue-1 club Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal. The Argentine forward had a very tough start to his PSG career. He scored only six goals in his debut Ligue 1 season. Injuries and Covid made things worse for him. However, despite all this, Messi managed to win the Ligue 1 title.

Now this time around, the Argentine is playing like the Lionel Messi we knew for a long time. He has already netted eleven goals and provided twelve assists so far.

The PSG forward is currently one of the most in-form players in the world. Messi’s contract with PSG however is going to expire at the end of this season. This gave rise to many rumours suggesting Lionel Messi going back to his former club Barcelona. And now one of his former teammates Andres Iniesta has admitted the same.

Iniesta then hailed Messi as the best saying, “The Messi of before and the one of now is different from all. He is number one. The only thing he has done is grow, improve himself, and make his teammates better.

The Spanish international explained that when a team possesses Lionel Messi they already have something to get all three points. Iniesta further expressed that he has not seen anyone play football in the way his former teammate Lionel Messi plays.

Although Iniesta is hopeful to see his former teammate Messi one more time in the Blaugrana jersey, it is not going to be easy. Messi’s current team PSG wants to extend his contract and have reportedly offered him a 1+1 extension deal.

Messi meanwhile is not thinking about his future. The Argentine is currently concentrating on the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022. This is going to be the final time, the forward play in the perennial event. So he currently wants to carry his great form and arrive in Qatar in the best possible shape.
