Andres Iniesta has lavished praise on his former teammate and current Barcelona manager Xavi, stating the Catalan outfit’s evolution since he became the club’s manager has been spectacular.
Barcelona appointed Xavi as their manager in November 2021. Xavi, who is a Barcelona legend, won his first title as the manager of the Catalan outfit in January this year when they defeated Real Madrid to lift the Spanish Super Cup title.
Although Barcelona got eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage and Europa League in the knockout play-off, the Catalan outfit can end the season on a high note. They lead the race for the La Liga title and remain in contention for the Copa del Rey title.
In La Liga, Barcelona have a 12-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid, who are the defending champions. In Copa del Rey, Barcelona secured a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the semi-final first leg. They have the edge heading into the second leg, which will take place in April.
Andres Iniesta added: “Xavi has prepared a lot for this moment, he has very clear ideas, he knows what he wants and how he wants it and what the position he occupies means.”
Barcelona secured a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in their most recent fixture to establish a 12-point lead in La Liga. Speaking about Barcelona’s win in the most recent El Clasico, Andres Iniesta said: “The match was beautiful, intense and interesting and with a perfect ending for us, for winning and for having that considerable lead, although not definitive, to be able to win La Liga.”
Andres Iniesta also warned Barcelona that they must keep winning until it becomes mathematically impossible for Real Madrid to win La Liga 22/23 title.
He said: “Until it is not mathematically possible it is not definitive and we have to win until the end, but we are in a position to do so.”
