Barcelona Is Interested in Argentine Midfielder Enzo Fernandez
Young Enzo Fernandez joined the youth set-up of River Plate at a very early age. The midfielder then graduated from the academy of River Plate and got promoted to the senior team.
Enzo made his first-team debut for River Plate in 2019. However, the midfielder was not getting enough game time so he joined fellow Argentine club Defensa y Justicia on loan. Enzo spent the early part of his loan as mainly a bench player. But he gradually cemented his spot in the starting eleven. Enzo then started to showcase his talent and helped Defensa y Justicia to win Copa Sudamericana.
After the successive loan spell, he returned to River Plate. Within days, Enzo became one of the best players in the team. The midfielder was then scouted by multiple big teams. However, he decided to join Primeira Liga outfit Benfica at the start of the current season.
After joining Benfica at the start of this season, Enzo has now cemented his spot in the starting eleven. The young midfielder has already provided two goals and scored three assists so far. He is currently one of the most talented young midfielders in the world and has got the attention of many big teams.
Barcelona captain Busquets is in the final years of his contract. The Spaniard who has been one of the mainstays of Barcelona for over a decade has decided to leave the club at the end of the season. So Barcelona are looking at multiple options to replace the stalwart.
Their first target Martin Zubimendi is on the verge of extending his contract with Real Sociedad. Another big name on the list is Ruben Neves from Wolves. However, there’s still uncertainty over his performance from one part of the Barca board. Hence the interest in Enzo began.
At only 21, Enzo has everything to succeed at Barcelona. Yes, he is probably not the best to replicate what Busquets used to do. As a matter of fact, no one in the world possesses the ability to replicate Busquets’ game. So Barcelona fans cannot be disheartened if they somehow land him next summer. ‘
Barcelona monitored the midfielder from his River Plate but were unable to sign him last summer. Now they will have to splash a lot of cash if they want to acquire the signing of the Argentine midfielder.
