Brazil Retain First Place in Latest FIFA Men’s Ranking
Brazil national football team retained the first position in the latest FIFA Men’s ranking, while Argentina national football team, who won the FIFA World Cup 2022 title, moved up to 2nd.
Brazil, who were among the favourites to lift the FIFA World Cup 2022 title, were knocked out of the competition by Croatia in the quarter-final. Croatia defeated Brazil in penalty shootout after the game had remained locked in a draw at the end of normal time and extra time.
It was Argentina who lifted the FIFA World Cup title in Qatar 2022. The South American heavyweights defeated France in a penalty shootout to win their third FIFA World Cup title. Argentina were ranked third in the previous ranking and they have now improved by a position in the latest ranking.
France, who had gone into the FIFA World Cup 2022 as the defending champions, have moved up to third from their previous ranking, which was fourth.
Meanwhile, Belgium, who endured a disappointing FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign, have dropped to fourth in the latest Men’s ranking. Belgium crashed out of FIFA World Cup 2022 at the group stage, and they have now fallen by two places in the FIFA Men’s ranking.
England continues to sit fifth in the Men’s ranking, while the Netherlands moved up to sixth from eighth.
Croatia, who reached the semi-finals of FIFA World Cup 2022, have entered the top 10 in FIFA Men’s ranking following their impressive performance at the latest edition of FIFA’s flagship event. They have improved their position from 12th to seventh.
Spain completes the top 10 in the latest FIFA Men’s ranking. Spain have dropped by two places – from eighth to tenth – following their round-of-16 exit at Qatar 2022.
