Carlo Ancelotti Says Real Madrid Have to Change Approach Against Manchester City

Carlo Ancelotti said Real Madrid would have to change their approach in the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City.

Real Madrid have qualified for the Champions League semi-final after defeating Chelsea with a 4-0 aggregate win in the quarter-final. They will meet Manchester City in the last four of the competition. Manchester City booked their place in the semi-final after securing a 4-1 aggregate win over Bayern Munich.

It was Manchester City who Real Madrid defeated in the Champions League semi-final last season. Real Madrid would go on to win the Champions League title that season.

Real Madrid will once again be aiming to get the better of Manchester City while the Premier League side will be eyeing revenge.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo, Carlo Ancelotti refused to be drawn into whether Manchester City are the favourites in the Champions League semi-final.

Carlo Ancelotti also said Manchester City have changed a little and that they have to change their approach against the Premier League side.

He said: “I think so, they have changed a little, but they still have a very strong team with a striker who scores many goals. We have to change the approach.

After securing their passage to the Champions League semi-final, Pep Guardiola said any team that wants to win the competition must beat Real Madrid in the process.

Carlo Ancelotti said Pep Guardiola’s praise of Real Madrid flattered him. He said: “I’m flattered, when you’re respected it’s a good thing that Guardiola says it better.

Rodrygo scored two goals for Real Madrid as they defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

On Rodrygo’s performance, Ancelotti said: “He is playing at a high level in both competitions. He’s making more of a difference in the Champions League with goals, but in La Liga, he’s getting more involved in the game.
