Casemiro is Man Utd’s Guard Dog in the Middle, Antony

Manchester United star Antony has labelled his teammate and compatriot Casemiro as their ‘guard dog in the middle’.

Both Antony and Casemiro ply their trade for Manchester United after the two players signed for the Red Devils in the previous summer transfer window. The Old Trafford outfit landed Antony from Ajax in the summer, reuniting him with manager Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United also signed Casemiro in the summer, acquiring the services of the Brazilian international from Spanish behemoths Real Madrid. Casemiro has joined Man Utd on a four-year contract with the option for a further year.

Meanwhile, Antony has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League side. His deal with the Red Devils runs until 2027.

I always say he’s our guard dog in the middle,” he jokingly said. “He’s a no-nonsense guy, a more serious type. I think he’ll leave these goal celebrations to us attacking players!

Casemiro has also registered a goal and an assist each for Man Utd this season. His only goal so far for Man Utd came in their 1-1 draw to Chelsea. Casemiro scored a late goal with a looping header to snatch a point for Man Utd against the Blues.

The Brazilian’s first assist at Man Utd was for Ronaldo. He played Ronaldo through on the stroke of halftime against Everton, with the Portuguese firing Man Utd ahead.

Meanwhile, Antony has so far appeared in 10 games for Man Utd this season. He has made six appearances in the Premier League and four in the Europa League. He has also scored three goals for Man Utd this season, all coming in the English top flight.

Antony’s first goal for Man Utd came on his debut for the club as he scored the Red Devils’ opener in their 3-1 win over Arsenal. He also scored for Man Utd in their 6-3 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League. The Brazilian attacker’s latest goal for Man Utd came against Everton as they secured a 2-1 win.
