Chelsea Transfer News: Timo Werner Transfer “Getting Closer” Despite Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel’s Stance

Romelu Lukaku has already left the Blues during the current transfer window. He returned to Inter Milan on a season-long loan.

The addition of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City has increased Thomas Tuchel’s team’s options in attack. However, Werner’s departure would still make the London team appear thin.

After a 28-goal Bundesliga season in Leipzig, Werner joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020. However, he couldn’t replicate his form for Chelsea. However, if the German international is to rejoin his old team, it will happen in spite of Tuchel’s wishes rather than as a result of them.

Werner said that despite interest from other teams, he decided to join the Blues in 2020 because “the complete package was a better fit.” Though he is no longer a lock to be selected after scoring just 10 league goals in two seasons. He is said to be interested in regular play to ensure a berth in Germany’s World Cup team.

In preparation for a prospective return, negotiations between Werner and RB Leipzig are reportedly “in full swing,” according to Sky Sport in Germany. While playing for Die Roten Bullen, the 26-year-old scored 95 goals in 159 appearances for the Bundesliga team and made his Germany debut.

Werner only received 21 league games from Tuchel last season. However, the German manager is reportedly eager to hold onto his countryman.

However, the next World Cup, where the forward has his heart set on helping Germany bounce back from their group stage exit in 2018, is where the issue arises.

Werner stated in July, “First and foremost, the most essential thing is that I will be pleased. When I play and score goals, I am thrilled. This is a fact.

“It is evident I want to play more and I should play more to first be in excellent shape for the World Cup. Secondly, to have a chance to play at the World Cup,” said the player. I could be happy anyplace.”

Whether the World Cup is held in the winter or the summer, I don’t think it makes any difference. I believe that I should play whether it’s for half, the entire season, or none.

During Germany’s World Cup qualifying campaign, Werner scored five goals. He is the lead scorer alongside Serge Gnabry and Ilkay Gundogan. To guarantee their place in Qatar, where they will compete against Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan in the group stage, Hansi Flick’s team won nine of their ten games.
