Cristiano Ronaldo Interview: “He Was Aware the Interview Would End His Manchester United Career”, Says Piers Morgan

British broadcaster Piers Morgan has hinted that Cristiano Ronaldo knew the interview would end his Manchester United career. Morgan said(h/t The Athletic): “Cristiano Ronaldo and I have built a relationship going back a few years now, and when he rang me he was like ‘I want to do an interview, I want to say everything.”

“I” said, ‘if you say everything I think you’re going to say, then you’re probably going to have to leave the club. He went: ‘I know.’ So he knew what he was getting into.”

Cristiano Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United for his second spell during the 2021 summer window. He has played 40 Premier League games after rejoining the Red Devils, registering 19 goals and three assists. However, manager Erik ten Hag excluded him from the squad several times this season, which has created a rift between them.

The Portugal international denied coming on as a late substitute in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month before storming out of Old Trafford.

The Portugal international is currently a free agent and is likely to decide his future after the World Cup. Chelsea, Newcastle United, and several Saudi League clubs have shown interest in signing him recently.

The London outfit are currently at the top of the Premier League season, five points behind second-placed Manchester United. Mikel Arteta will look to end the Gunners’ Premier League trophy drought and is likely to bring in more reinforcements to his squad in January.

Signing a new winger will be among his top priorities during the upcoming transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo will be a decent signing for him in that regard given his talent and experience.
