The Uruguay international first arrived in Europe with Palermo in 2007 before joining Napoli in 2011. He spent three seasons with the Naples club, helping them win the Coppa Italia in 2011-12. Cavani left the Serie A club to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.

Cavani spent the most successful spell of his career with the Parisians, scoring 138 goals in 200 league games during his time at the club. He won the Ligue 1’s Golden Boot twice and was also awarded the Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the 2016–17 season.

The Uruguay international joined English Premier League club Manchester United in 2020. He plied his trade for two seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 12 goals in 40 league appearances.

The 35-year-old striker still has several years of top-level football left in him and is prioritising a move to the La Liga club. Valencia and Real Sociedad are among the clubs who have shown interest in signing him in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old attacker played 232 league games during his time at the Olympic Grande Torino Stadium, scoring 100 goals. He won the 2017 Giuseppe Prisco Award and the Pallone d’Argento in 2016-17.

The Calcinate-born attacker was also part of Italy’s squad that won the UEFA European Championship in 2020.

If the transfer goes through, the Italian will become the Giallorossi’s sixth signing of the transfer window after Paulo Dybala, Gini Wijnaldum, Nemanja Matic, Zeki Celik, and Mile Svilar.
