Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will reportedly decide whether or not to sanction a move away from the club for Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof in the summer transfer window.
Both Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof have struggled for game time at Manchester United this season. Erik ten Hag has mostly preferred the partnership between Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in central defense and that has limited Lindelof’s game time.
Victor Lindelof has only made 21 appearances for Manchester United so far this season, starting in 15 of those matches. He had attracted transfer interest from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window of 2023, but a move never happened and he stayed at Manchester United.
Scott McTominay, meanwhile, has seen his game time reduce following Manchester United’s signing of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer transfer window of 2022. The Scottish international has made 32 appearances for Manchester United so far this season, but only 13 of those were as a starter.
Scott McTominay has attracted transfer interest from Premier League side Newcastle United, who remains keen on signing the 26-year-old.
“Erik ten Hag will decide on the situation of Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay in the summer,” Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.
“Lindelof had Inter and Atlético Madrid interest in January, McTominay was and remains on Newcastle’s list. Man United will decide in the next months.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United remains in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League titles this season. The Red Devils have qualified for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Manchester United, meanwhile, sits third in the Premier League but are unlikely to win the title this season. They trail table-toppers Arsenal by 19 points although they have two games in hand over the Gunners.
Manchester United have already won one title this season. They lifted the EFL Cup by defeating Newcastle United in the final.
