Football News: Who is Marcus Edwards?
The North Londoners defeated Marseille to start their most recent foray into Europe’s top league, and now they head to Portugal for their second group match.
However, as they take against the Portuguese runners-up from last season, their task becomes noticeably more challenging. Given Edwards’ recent success in Portugal, one of the primary threats they will keep an eye out for is the young player.
In light of this, we will examine the former Spurs prospect carefully to determine how much of a threat he might present to his former employers at the José Alvalade Stadium.
Winger Edwards, age 23, was born in Enfield, London. At the age of eight, he started his football training in the Spurs academy. In 2016, he signed his first professional deal with the North London team.

After comparing Edwards to Argentine legend Lionel Messi, former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has made no secret of his enthusiasm for Edwards.
He stated, “His qualities, it just looks, his body and the way he plays, remember a little bit from the beginning of Messi,” when he was living in North London.
Ruben Amorim, the young winger’s current manager, has supported him to play for the senior England side should his current trajectory continue.
“Marcus is incredibly talented,” he said during his presser before the game. He is among the most significant players at executing plays outside of the lines. It took him some time to become used to Portuguese culture.
He is incredibly talented and has the potential to join the English national squad by improving significantly. He must pay closer attention to his training and everything that goes with it.
