Fulham ‘growing in confidence’ over £10m deal for Arsenal outcast
Fulham are growing increasingly confident of securing the services of Arsenal shot-stopper Bernd Leno in a deal worth £10m, with the newly-promoted side ready to hand Leno a three-year contract at Craven Cottage.
Leno was overtaken as Arsenal’s no.1 by Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival in north London last season, and found himself out of the German National team squad as a result.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s lack of European football and third-round FA Cup exit meant that the German made just five appearances following Ramsdale’s arrival at the club three games into the season.
Signing for the west London side will certainly hand Leno the chance to prove his worth once more to the German national side, with the Cottagers widely expected to be in a relegation battle next season.
Marco Silva’s side have already made their first signing of the summer, with highly regarded midfielder Joao Palhinha joining the club from Sporting.
Leno is expected to be their second addition, and they are unlikely to stop there, with centre-back being targeted ahead of the new campaign as well as potentially another forward.
