Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Karim Benzema over extending his contract with the club, according to a report.
Karim Benzema’s current contract with Real Madrid is due to expire at the end of June. The Frenchman has not yet signed a contract extension, but 90min reports that he has agreed to one.
According to 90min, Karim Benzema has agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid by another 12 months. That would keep him at the Spanish club beyond the end of the current campaign.
Karim Benzema is now in his 14th season with Real Madrid. The now 35-year-old has been playing for Real Madrid ever since signing for the Spanish behemoths in the summer transfer window in 2009. Real Madrid signed him from the French side Lyon.
Karim Benzema has appeared in 28 games across all competitions for Real Madrid so far this season and has amassed 19 goals and five assists in those matches. He scored for Real Madrid in their most recent fixture as they got the better of Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League round of 16 second leg.
Karim Benzema, who had scored twice in Real Madrid’s 5-2 defeat of Liverpool in the first leg, bagged the only goal of the second leg as Carlo Ancelotti’s men secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The French attacker sent Real Madrid 1-0 up in the 78th minute of the match as the Spanish behemoths sealed their place in the UCL quarter-finals with a 6-2 aggregate win.
A win over Barcelona would help Real Madrid reduce the gap between the Catalan outfit to six points and mount pressure on them.
