Liverpool News: Injury Boost for the Reds Before the Showdown Against Man United

Liverpool News: The Reds have received a much-needed injury boost with Roberto Firmino’s return to the match-up against Manchester United on Monday.

After being held to draws by both Fulham and Crystal Palace in each of their first two games, the Reds head to Old Trafford looking to secure their first victory of the campaign.

Since Darwin Nunez, a star summer acquisition will serve the first of a three-match suspension for headbutting Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

In his pre-game press conference, Klopp stated that Bobby had “totally normal” training and was prepared.

Firmino’s return gave the Reds a major boost, but their injury problems persist. Despite accelerating their individual recoveries, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are still unable to play, and other players like Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ibrahima Konate are also still out.

Liverpool will be hopeful of finally beginning their season in earnest against Man Utd despite the current injury issues at Anfield. Last season, the Reds chalked up two convincing victories over their fierce rivals, first at Old Trafford (5-0) and then on Merseyside (4-0).

By winning 4-2 in May 2021, their winning streak at Old Trafford goes even higher. Klopp has asserted that the victories won’t have any impact on the two teams’ next match, though.

He stated: “I already understood that the last two performances at Old Trafford wouldn’t help this time. If feasible, it merely helps a little to be more motivated. This would be very different in a different circumstance.

“It is difficult to prepare for since United can change everything or nothing, but it’s still early and we don’t have a lot of information. It’s difficult, but it’s okay. Visiting United will never be simple.

“That’s how it is; I would rather play them after a 5-0 victory. Is it better to play us after our two draws? I’m not sure. We have to handle any circumstance. The entire world will be watching, so let’s see how these power players handle the circumstance.”

After a disastrous start to the new season under Erik ten Hag, United will undoubtedly be determined to defeat the Reds. They started the season with a loss to Brighton before turning in a terrible effort against Brentford.
