Tottenham Hotspur News: Cristian Romero Injury Not Serious, Reveals Antonio Conte

Romero sustained a muscle injury towards the end of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with London rivals Chelsea. The Argentine defender, though, had completed the game against Chelsea, in which he also got away with a hair pull on Marc Cucurella.

Romero pulled Cucurella’s hair during the corner that preceded the one that resulted in Spurs’ late equalizer. VAR official Mike Dean has since admitted Romero should have been punished for the foul.

While Conte ruled him out of their home against Wolves, he also played down fears the Argentine could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Speaking ahead of the match against Wolves, Conte confirmed Romero’s injury is not serious. Conte said Romero had ‘a little problem’ during the game against Chelsea.

The Spurs manager added that Romero wanted to make himself available for the game against Wolves, but they chose not to take a risk.

“After the game, he started to feel a bit of pain in his adductor. We checked him, and honestly the player wanted to give his availability but in this type of situation especially as we have a lot of games to play, it would be stupid to take a risk.

“For this reason, he’s not available for the game against Wolves.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham head into the game against the Wolves with four points from their first two fixtures. Tottenham began their Premier League 22/23 campaign with a thumping home win over Southampton.

Southampton took the lead through James Ward-Prowse’s 12th-minute goal. But Spurs scored two goals each on either side of halftime to register a 4-1 win.

Their second game of the season was against Chelsea. The Blues took an early lead through Kalidou Koulibaly before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalized in the 69th minute. Chelsea went ahead again through Reece James in the 77th minute.

However, the Spurs earned a point with an equalizer in injury time. Harry Kane headed home from a corner to salvage a draw for Conte’s side at Stamford Bridge.
