Liverpool News: Injury Concern for Liverpool Should Serve as a Signal to Jurgen Klopp That His Choice Could Backfire

The Reds’ Community Shield victory over Manchester City on Saturday showed they were primed and ready to go. It can serve as the ideal prelude to the upcoming season as Klopp.

All seems well for the Liverpool manager with players like Mohamed Salah in form and newcomer Darwin Nunez scoring.

They practically have a perfect health record and will play Fulham on Saturday at noon. Their most recent injury issue may have made Klopp less optimistic before the season opener. Prior to the crucial kickoff, Klopp thought his team needed to put in extra time to recharge.

Just last week, he stated: “It’s a big game (against Man City), but we still need to get ready for the season, so we can’t disregard that. Therefore, we must prolong our preseason into the current season. We play City on Saturday, and then Strasbourg in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

We play Fulham in the first game of the season. Starting around the middle of August, I believe we will resume playing every three days, leaving no time for practice.

He might be changing his mind today, though, as Ibrahima Konate injured himself during the 3-0 loss to Strasbourg on Sunday. Although Klopp may have gained some insight into the young players at his disposal from the match.

After the game, Red’s manager said: “We don’t know exactly on Ibou. However, it doesn’t appear too alarming. So I hope we caught it in the correct moment.” The manager didn’t seem overly concerned.

However, it comes after Curtis Jones experienced an unidentified problem during the Community Shield, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was declared to be out for an extended period of time.

Alisson, Diogo Jota, and other goalkeepers are already out with injuries, and backup goalie Caiomhin Kelleher, newly acquired Calvin Ramsay, and fellow full-back Kostas Tsimikas have all been dealing with personal health issues.

Even though Liverpool’s fans are all too familiar with the injury issue from two seasons ago, the club does have a respectable depth to cover the different injuries in the team.

However unlikely it was that Konate would start against Fulham the next weekend; Klopp relied on him to switch off with Joel Matip in order to keep both players fresh.

Even though Joe Gomez is back in shape and can serve as insurance, the idea of playing another friendly after their Premier League debut sounds like a recipe for disaster.
