Liverpool Resurrects Interest in Wolves Midfielder

Wolves signed the Portugal international in a deal worth £38 million. The 23-year-old midfielder has had a mixed start to life in the Premier League. He has played 14 league games so far, registering one assist.

According to Matteo Moretto, the German manager is looking to add two or three midfielders to his squad. Jude Bellingham, Moises Caicedo, Soyfan Amrabat and Enzo Fernandez have also been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks.

The Merseyside outfit have signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven earlier this window. However, Jurgen Klopp recently hinted that the club needs to sell before making further reinforcements to the squad this transfer window.

He said: “I am now seven years and a few months here and every transfer window is pretty much the same,” the Liverpool boss explained. “We talk about these things as though the money wouldn’t play a role. Like, ‘Who cares’ If there’s something we can do in January that means the right player & financial situation…then we will do it, but if not then we will not”.

Meanwhile, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, and Nats Phillips have been linked with a departure from Anfield this transfer window.

Liverpool have endured a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the GW Community Stadium on Monday. The Merseyside outfit are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.

They will look to return to winning ways when they lock horns against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup on January 8. Liverpool will play Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on January 14.
