Manchester City Is Interested in Brazilian Wonder Kid Matheus Franca
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Franca de Oliveira started his football journey at the academy of Flamengo.
The attacker graduated from the Falmenego academy and made his senior team debut in 2021 against Santos. Since then, France slowly established himself as one of the key players in the squad. He has so far won one Copa do Brasil and one Copa Libertadores da America tournament with the Brazilian club.
France has also Brazil’s U-16 team at the international level. The 18-year-old Flamengo player is currently known as one of the best prodigies in the country.
The report further suggests that they will then loan out the Brazilian player to one of the City group teams so he can gain more first-team experience.
Under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City have built one of the strongest squads in the world. they have ample depth in every position, But this does not stop them from signing more talented players to their squad.
Manchester City is part of the City Football Group. The consortium owns a lot of clubs around the world. So whenever City finds a youngster who needs to be polished and also should get game time, they loan him out to their sister clubs.
18-year-old Matheus Franca can play in multiple attacking positions. He has scored eight goals and provided three assists for Flamengo in all competitions. The Brazilian is one of the highest-rated young players in South America.
Hence Manchester City wants to sign him. However, this is not going to be easy for them. Defending UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid are also interested in the Brazilian forward. Madrid have recently unearthed a lot of Brazilian talents and wants to do more in near future.
France recently signed a contract extension with Flamengo earlier this year. His new contract will keep him at the Brazilian club till 2027. The attacker however has a €100 million release clause which can be triggered.
The amount is not a big deal for City. But it will be interesting to see if they will be eager to pay this much for Franca.
