Manchester City News: Pep Guardiola Reacts to Jack Grealish Thanking Him
Man City news: Pep Guardiola has said he trusts Jack Grealish unconditionally after the England international scored in their 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Guardiola had earlier defended Grealish after criticism over the Englishman’s performance for Man City. Guardiola insisted that it is not just about goals or assists but also about the overall contribution – on and off the ball.
Grealish had started for Man City in their 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The 27-year-old could not influence the match as much as he would have hoped to, and Guardiola took him off as part of triple change in the 58th minute.
Grealish added his name to the scoresheet just one minute into Man City’s match against Wolves. He got on the end of a delicious delivery into the box by Kevin de Bruyne and converted it without fail.
Speaking after the match, Guardiola was asked about Grealish thanking him after the match against Wolves. Guardiola reacted to that by insisting that he trusts his players unconditionally.
He added: “I know them. I trust them unconditionally and Jack is no exception. He scored a goal and it was a good performance. Every time he has the ball it’s one against the full-back all the time. Okay, he didn’t score or assist but it’s a question of time.”
Guardiola also said that Grealish or any other players do not have to thank him and insisted he has full confidence in his players.
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden were the other scorers as Man City registered a 3-0 win over Wolves.
Meanwhile, Man City currently sits second in the Premier League points table. City have 17 points from their first seven fixtures. They are two points short of Arsenal, who reclaimed the status of league leaders with a 3-0 win over Brentford.
Meanwhile, Man City have also had a great start to their Champions League 22/23 campaign. They kicked it off by defeating Sevilla 4-0 before earning another three points in their win over Dortmund.
