Manchester United News: How Ten Hag Bringing the Best Out of Eriksen

Manchester United fans embraced Eriksen from the very first day, and he showed great form on the field. It looks like he was missing part of what United was missing for a long time in the midfield.

Eriksen plays as a left midfielder for Denmark’s national team. During playing for his country in UEFA Euro 2020, the former Inter midfielder collapsed on the field in the 42nd minute on 12 June 2021 while playing against Finland in Parken Stadium. Urgent medical assistance arrived and shifted him to the hospital.

The match was suspended for some time. The match continued later that evening, and the result came out as a 1–0 victory for Finland. On the next day, reports confirmed that Eriksen faced a cardiac arrest.

Because an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, was implanted in his body, he was not allowed to play in Serie A.

After getting released from Inter, he joined Brentford on a six months deal and returned to the Premier League. In his 11 matches with Brentford, he scored one goal and provided four assists.

After Ten Hag took over the Manchester United manager role, he signed for United on a three-year deal. He had a great relationship with the manager, as the former Ajax manager allowed him to train with his Ajax team when he returned to football after cardiac arrest.

He also talked about his position in the midfield under Ten Hag as he added: “I’ll play wherever the manager puts me and if he sees opportunities in one game in one position then I might play there, I’m not really locked in one position, but I do feel comfortable there for sure.”

Eriksen’s first game in the Premier League for the Red Devils played as an unfamiliar false nine position in the opening game against Brighton. He was able to make an impact in that home defeat.

Ten Hag introduced him to a defensive role against Brentford, but that game result was more miserable for United.

The manager now has found Eriksen’s the ideal role of ‘number eight’ in the modern game and they have not lost a single game in the Premier League since the defeat against Brentford.
