Mohamed Salah Reveals His Best Position After 2-0 Win Over Napoli
Mohamed Salah has admitted that playing on the right side of the attack in a 4-3-3 formation is his best position.
The Egyptian attacker has played in a number of different roles for Liverpool this season. Against Napoli in their final Champions League 22/23 group stage match, Klopp deployed his side in a 4-3-3 formation.
Salah gave Liverpool the breakthrough in the 85th minute, bundling the ball in from close range after Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret had spilled a save. Nunez then sealed Liverpool’s victory in the injury time, scoring in the 90+7th minute.
Speaking after the game, Salah admitted that playing on the right of a 4-3-3 formation is his best position. However, the Egyptian stressed he is not the manager, and it is Klopp who decides the tactics.
“But I’m not the manager, the manager decides the tactics and, as a player, you have to follow the leader.”
Despite their win over Napoli, Liverpool could only finish second in the Champions League Group A. Napoli occupy the first position. Both sides have 15 points from six matches. But the Italian side took the first place thanks to their superior goal difference.
Meanwhile, Liverpool resumes their Premier League campaign next. The Reds take on Tottenham Hotspur at the latter’s home ground on Sunday.
Liverpool, meanwhile, languishes at ninth in the Premier League points table with 16 points from 12 matches. Tottenham, meanwhile, are third, with 26 points from 13 matches.
Liverpool will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Spurs. The Reds have fallen to defeats in their previous two matches in the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest and 2-1 to Leeds United.
The match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur kicks off at 10:00 pm Indian Standard Time, on Sunday.
