Neymar: PSG Want to Sell The Brazilian Superstar
Paris Saint-Germain(PSG) wants to part ways with Neymar Jr at the end of the 22/23 season, according to a report in Foot Mercato.
Neymar Jr reportedly criticized his PSG teammates during their 3-1 defeat to AS Monaco in their most recent fixture in Ligue 1. The 31-year-old Brazil international was also reportedly involved in a heated dressing room row with PSG’s football advisor Luis Campos during the match against Monaco.
It remains to be seen who will be interested in acquiring the services of Neymar in the summer transfer window of 2023. It also remains to be seen if Neymar is open to a move away from the French club, for whom he has been playing since 2017.
Despite his subpar performances in PSG’s recent games, Neymar has been largely impressive for the defending Ligue 1 champions in the 22/23 campaign.
He has featured in 27 games across all competitions for PSG so far this season and has racked up 17 goals and 16 assists. 12 of those goals and 10 of those assists have come in Ligue 1, where he has featured in 19 games so far this season.
Neymar has also bagged two goals and three assists in five matches for PSG so far in the Champions League 22/23 campaign.
Meanwhile, PSG, despite the defeat to Monaco, sits atop the points table in Ligue 1. They have 54 points from 23 matches in Ligue 1 and they enjoy a five-point lead at the top. Marseille, who knocked PSG out of the French Cup earlier this month, sit second in the league table, with 49 points from 23 matches.
PSG, who have suffered defeats in their last two fixtures, will face Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League round-of-16 in their next fixture.
