Rb Leipzig News: Leipzig Confirmed the Departure of Domenico Tedesko
After playing for ASV Aichwald in the Kriesliga A, Tedesko began coaching at a very young age. He joined VfB Stuttgart as an assistant coach under Thomas Schneider was later promoted to the head coach role.
He then left Stuttgart and joined Hoffenheim’s youth academy. After spending time with Hoffenheim Tedesko finally got a chance to manage a senior team when 2. Bundesliga outfit Erzgebirge Aue appointed him as the head coach. The Italian manager saved Erzgebirge from getting demoted and was roped in by Bundesliga outfit SChalke 04.
In his first Bundesliga season, he helped Schalke finish 2nd in the table. After his removal from Schalke, he joined Spartak Moscow. The manager did fairly well with Moscow and came back to Germany to manage RB Leipzig.
German club RB Leipzig have officially released their head coach Domenico Tedesko from all duties.
In an official statement, the club confirmed, “RB Leipzig have parted company with Domenico Tedesco with immediate effect. This is the result of in-depth discussions following the 4-1 home defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.”
Leipzig have also confirmed the departure of assistant coaches Andreas Hinkel and Max Urwantschky from the club.
After replacing American coach Jesse Marsch in Leipzig, Tedesko had a very successful first season.
Under the Italian manager, Leipzig won their first major title when they defeated SC Freiburg in penalties and won the DFB Pokal.
Tedesco’s Leipzig performed decently in the continental stage as they reached the Europa League semi-finals before getting knocked by Scottish club Rangers.
This time around, Leipzig had a very poor start to the season. The German club won only one out of their first five matches in the league. They are currently placed in the eleventh place in the table.
The pressure was already building on Tedesko’s team to deliver. However, things only turned worse in the Champions League as the German club suffered a 1-4 loss against Shakhtar Donetsk in their opening match.
Ultimately this poor start coupled with the Champions League humiliation led to the sacking of Tedesco.
Leipzig have confirmed that they have started their search for the next manager and will soon release an update on this.
Leipzig will face Borussia Dortmund in their next match.
